I've lived in California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. I have driven the 5 freeway from California to the Pacific Northwest more times than I can count, and in order to mix it up, have decided to take more Eastern routes in the past few years. This series responds to time spent in western landscape, however this work is inspired by time East of the Sierras, attending to the range of color throughout the hours of the day. Landscape and nature fuels my painting process, and these little works are about loosely capturing the essence of the land.
