I titled this work "California Gold" for two reasons. First, nostalgia: as a child I watched a show titled "California Gold" showcasing the oddest and most interesting places and sites to visit in California. This captures sweet memories of those years where I learned more about my homestate and laughed with my dad at the oddities of the show. The title also refers to the vibrant golds of California landscape. This painting series responds to time spent in western landscape, attending to the range of color throughout the hours of the day. Landscape and nature fuel my painting process, and these little works are about loosely capturing the essence of the land.
